The show was extremely well attended...restoring faith in the 'Brits Buying Abroad'...seems you're still at it!..In a nutshell it seems to me that Gordon Brown and Alastair Darling (hereafter known as the Dynamic Duo) have revived the overseas property market...remarkably, whilst doing little good for UK vendors. It seems they are (in spite of our prior knowledge) the best salesmen we might ever find and long may they reign (well actually "No" because the UK will be in tatters)...watch this space...

And... whilst we're on about things NOT to do - These companies who ask for a fee up front...Don't pay anything to anyone until you find your new home and have signed a Compromis. Some businesses actually ask for £100 for making appointments with French agencies! In fact at 'Vive la France' I saw one asking for £500!! - how very dare you!!. It's only a means of stopping you from looking more widely and finding what YOU want! Not only that but there are some other companies who load the price of the properties which they have on offer and you could be asked to pay far more than with other agents....We hear a lot about these situations, but often it's too late and the damage is already done - just check carefully before you commit yourself. Caveat Emptor...Let the buyer beware! ...a little light reading...:- Looking for a house in Brittany or Normandy?
